Mariposa

I love the Spanish word for "butterfly:" Mariposa. It's so much more fitting than "butterfly." The word "mariposa" just sounds more like it should... Elegant, almost feminine, yet simple. Just like the insect it describes. This picture was taken at the Butterfly Pavilion, a place with immense potential for photography. This picture stood out to me because the butterfly is beautiful in spite of its lack of bright colors. I also liked the crisp shadow beneath the butterfly itself.
